Flying Drones: What you Need to Know

Drone flying is both an enjoyable and rewarding recreational activity, but before you take to the skies read the following articles on what you need to know. Fly safe and know your boundaries regarding the rules and regulations.

FAA Certification

Some states require an FAA-certified drone pilot certification before you fly any kind of recreational or commercial drone. Check with your state’s laws to see if you need to get certified before you fly into any trouble.

Recreational drone flying can provide the structure and experience to develop into a commercial drone pilot. If this is your intention certification is mandatory in some states don’t get caught out!

Begin at budget level

Start within your budget, cheap mini drones are particularly fun, and easy to learn on. No point over stretching yourself buying an expensive high end model as crashing not once but many times is part of the learning process. Learning what not to do when flying is just as important as learning what to do.

Read the Drone Manual

Every pilot needs to begin somewhere and flying drones starts with the manual. Become familiar with it read and understand the unique features and controls before you take to the air, it can save you time and expense .Online manuals are available alongside the traditional paper manuals.

Locate a clear area to fly

Drone flying needs a wide-open area that is mostly free from obstacles.Commercial drone pilots use Air Map an app which lets you plan your flight and requests permissions.Maintaining good visual contact at all times with your drone is essential as you learn to master the controls. Be aware that others may enter into your flying zone and you need to keep their safety in mind also.

Monitor the Weather Conditions

Weather is something beyond our control but this must be considered when flying drones. The wind will interfere with your flight so it needs to be relatively calm with little wind. Since drones are sensitive electronic devices rain can cause problems also. Monitor the weather forecast before you decide to fly.

Watch Your Battery Level

Although drone technology has advanced, the vulnerable part the battery, has limited capabilities. Flight times have improved but beginner models are usually only capable of a few minutes. Monitor the battery level and make sure you have enough to get you back home safely at all times.

Keep Practicing

Not everything goes to plan and the same applies to drone flying. But the more you practice the better you become, onwards and upwards!

Wrap Up

What you need to know about flying drones- all in one convenient article. Implement what you have learnt and you will be off to a good start!
